Derek DeBrosse, Esq
Derek Andrew DeBrosse is a licensed Ohio attorney with a firearms legal practice emphasizing in Gun Rights Restoration. Derek began his law practice immediately after law school in 2008 when he graduated from Regent University School of Law; Derek also holds a B.A. from The Ohio State University. Mr. DeBrosse’s practice not only focuses on rights restoration but also a variety of other firearm related matters from NFA issues to FFL representation. Derek has represented both individual, corporate, and grass-roots organizational firearm clients in both Federal and State court.
Before entering into law school Derek served a combat tour of duty with the 1487th Transportation Company in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Derek has received various military accolades to include the Combat Action Badge, Army Commendation Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal. Mr. DeBrosse is licensed to practice in all Ohio State and Federal Courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals, U.S. Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals, U.S. Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Mr. DeBrosse is a NRA Benefactor Life Member, NRA Golden Eagle Member, NRA Firearms Instructor, GLOCK Advanced Armorer, Smith & Wesson M&P Armorer, O.P.O.T.A. Duty Knife Instructor, Defensive Edge Certified Armorer in Precision Rifle/AR15/M4/M16/LEO Shotgun, and member of various other pro Second Amendment organizations. In his free time Derek enjoys tactical firearms training, backpacking, scuba diving, white water rafting and anything outdoor related.
Professionally Derek also serves as General Counsel of Ohioans for Concealed Carry, Judge Advocate for the Combat Infantryman’s Association, as well as Special Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Village of Hartford, Ohio.
Adam Barney, Esq
Adam Barney was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio. After high school, Adam graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. In 2006, Adam received his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School. During law school, Adam had the privilege to serve as a judicial extern for the Honorable Judge James L. Graham, a senior judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
After graduating from law school, Adam worked as a managing associate in a small family law firm in Columbus, Ohio, where he focused his practice on divorce, child custody, and juvenile matters. Today, Adam is a founding partner at Barney DeBrosse LLC, and his practice areas include family law, divorce, dissolution, child custody, child support, grandparent’s rights, and post-decree matters.
In his free time, Adam enjoys traveling, cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Columbus Blue Jackets, attending concerts, and is an avid movie buff.
Matthew W. Upton, Esq
Matthew Upton was born and raised in the hills of West Virginia working for his father’s construction company. After high school, Matthew attended West Virginia University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. In 2002, Matthew and his wife moved to Ohio where he attended Capital University Law School. During his time at Capital Law School, Matthew served as a teaching assistant for Contracts and Legal Writing, and was a member of the editorial board for the Capital University Law Review. In 2005, Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude from Capital Law School.
Matthew is a registered patent attorney, and before joining Barney DeBrosse in 2014, he worked at a large boutique intellectual property firm in central Ohio. As a patent attorney, Matthew has had the opportunity to assist both large corporations and individual inventors in obtaining protection for their intellectual property. During his career, Matthew has had the opportunity to both draft and prosecute patents for weapon-training devices for the military and a number of inventions related to firearms.
Matthew’s practice at Barney DeBrosse not only includes patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets, but also business formation and counseling, and civil litigation and construction law. Matthew’s experience working with both large and small businesses, as well as his experience as a small business owner in the construction industry allows him to have an insider’s perspective on many of the issues facing businesses today.
When not fighting for the rights of his clients, Matthew can be found enjoying time with his family and is heavily involved in his church and the surrounding community. Matthew also enjoys scuba diving, target shooting, and college athletics. Matthew is also a card carrying members of the NRA.
Michael Allen Truman, Esq
Michael is a strong believer in second amendment rights. He was introduced to firearms at a young age by his dad and grandpa and has carried that passion into his adult life. He enjoys going to the range and trap shooting. He is also an active NRA Member.
Michael was born and raised in Dayton Ohio. He graduated from Archbishop Alter High School and attended Miami University to obtain his undergraduate degree in accounting, 2010 cum laude. After graduation he enrolled at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. In law school Michael served as a staff editor on the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution and was an active member of the Business Law Society. He also served as a research assistant to Professor Edward Foley and as a law clerk at the firm of Farlow & Associates. Michael earned his Juris Doctor in 2014 and joined Barney DeBrosse, LLC as an associate attorney in 2015.
Traci Ludke, Executive Legal Assistant
Traci earned her ABA in Legal Administration in 1991 and her BBA in Office Administration in 1993 from Davenport University, Dearborn, Michigan. Since graduation, she has worked in different areas of the legal field, including Criminal, Probate, Personal Injury, Real Estate and Divorce. Traci and her family moved to the Columbus area in 2008. She has been working with the Firm since early 2011 after taking a 13 year leave to raise her children.
Traci is an active member of the NRA. Raised the daughter of a gospel preacher, Traci spent time with her father on hunting trips during her youth as well as obtained her Hunter’s Safety certification.
Traci enjoys spending time with her children and church family, traveling and enjoying the sites of the Columbus area.
Michelle Vicchiarelli, Secretary
Michelle grew up in North Canton Ohio and is a graduate of North Canton Hoover High School. She received her BA in Marketing from Kent State University. She worked for various companies in sales and marketing before starting a family. She and her husband have 3 children. Michelle has been working for Barney DeBrosse, LLC since 2014.
Michelle is a member of the NRA and enjoys target shooting. She comes from a tight knit family that firmly believes in the 2nd amendment rights. Her father worked on Ronald Reagan’s 1980 Presidential campaign for the state of Ohio as well as US Congressman and State representative campaigns.
In her spare time Michelle cherishes her time spent with family and friends. She enjoys reading history and staying up on the latest political news and current events.
